Mother's Day for Dog Moms

Recently my friend Sandra told me that the pottery studio where she works has started offering adorable customizable paw impressions, so obviously being the dog nerd that I am, I had to go check it out.

Paint 'n Play is located on Myrtle St. in Old Town Monrovia (we were able to walk there!) and I was somewhat hesitant about bringing my dog into a room full of fragile ceramics but the owner, Lisa, immediately brushed off my worries and told me that they were used to having kids, dogs, and all kinds of commotion in their shop. They also offered us an adorable water bowl so that Koa could cool off while they set up her paw impression.

While we waited I got to check out some of the other impressions dog owners had made — cute feminine prints, fun sporty ones with added little tennis ball decals, and combo human hand and puppy paw impressions. You can see some of the ceramic paw prints they've done here.

A paw impression would be the absolute perfect gift for any dog mom, or dog-loving human mom. Sandra explained that for many people a hand or paw print is a great way of immortalizing a good memory with a loved one, especially a beloved pet that may be departing soon. With a paw print, you aren't looking at the effects of age or illness, you are just remembering your four-legged companion and all the good times you shared. It could also be a really fun activity to do with your mom! My mom is also a crazy dog lady, and I wish I knew about this place last time she visited with her 15-year-old dog because we are always looking for fun stuff we can do with the dogs in tow! 

Koa was super patient and let me lift her onto the table quite calmly while Lisa pressed her paw into the clay. It was a very fast process, only taking us maybe twenty minutes all together and I can't wait to see the finished result!
