Cheap & Easy Summer Pupsicles
Pinterest is full of paw-shaped dog treat recipes and adorable, photo-ready ideas for making puppy pops. This is not one of those recipes. But while this pupsicle recipe is far from glamorous or Instagram-able, it's super easily, it's essentially a two-fer, and the pups love it, so here's my lazy version of a summer pupsicle:You will need:
Deboned chickenWater
Small cups
Directions:
2. Once the chicken is well cooked, take a large bowl and place it beneath a strainer. Pour the pot of water into the strainer/bowl combo and lift the strainer out of the bowl.
3. Let the chicken and broth cool.
4. Once the chicken is cool, you can chop it into smaller bits and use as training treats! I will often make a large batch and then freeze half and so it doesn't go bad.
5. Then, pour your broth into several small cups. I usually just dig through the recycling to find old water bottles, paper cups, or plastic containers that people in my household have disposed of, rinse them out, and cut them down to size.
6. Pop your cups in the freeze, and finally...
7. Serve & enjoy!
If you have a particularly voracious chewer, be vigilant because you don't want the cups to get chewed up and accidentally consumed, but these two did a great job of licking their cups clean! Which means I can rinse and reuse the cups next time I make a batch.
These little pops make a great treat on a cool day, and are a good way to encourage the pups to settle down on a mat or in a crate for a little bit.
